What is PausePower Creatine?

Who created PausePower?
PausePower is led by Marleen Konijnenberg — pharmacologist and women’s health & fitness coach — focused on evidence-based support for women at every life stage. Marleen is a member of the British Menopause Society.
Is PausePower just for athletes?
No. While creatine is well known in sport, research shows women of all activity levels can benefit — especially those in perimenopause/menopause aiming to maintain muscle, bone and cognitive function.

What benefits can women expect from creatine?

How soon will I notice results?
Most women notice better training quality and recovery within 2–4 weeks on a daily 3–5 g dose; strength/lean mass changes follow with consistent training.
Can creatine help with menopause symptoms like fatigue or brain fog?
Creatine supports cellular energy, and evidence suggests cognitive and mood benefits during hormone-related changes, which many women experience as fatigue or brain fog. It’s not a medicine, but can be a helpful adjunct alongside lifestyle and, where appropriate, clinical care. PubMed
Safety, side-effects & who should avoid it
Is creatine safe for women?
Yes — creatine monohydrate is well-researched and considered safe at recommended doses. Studies in women show no adverse effects on renal, hepatic or cardiovascular systems when used appropriately.
Does creatine cause weight gain or bloating?
Creatine draws water into muscle (not under the skin) as muscles store more energy. Women are less likely than men to experience rapid water-weight changes; if you do, it’s typically mild and settles with steady daily dosing.
Can I take creatine with HRT, SSRIs or thyroid meds?
Creatine is not a hormone and has no known direct interaction with HRT. That said, always consult your clinician about your medicines and health history (especially kidney issues, pregnancy/breastfeeding). This product doesn’t diagnose, treat, cure or prevent disease.
Do I need to cycle off creatine?

How to take PausePower
What’s the best daily dose?
3–5 g once daily (about a level teaspoon) is effective for most women. You can “load” (15–20 g/day split for 5–7 days) to saturate faster, but it’s optional. Take it every day — training or rest.
When should I take it — morning, pre-workout or evening?
Timing is flexible. Choose a habit anchor you’ll stick to (e.g., with breakfast, a smoothie, or post-training). Consistency beats timing.
How do I take unflavoured creatine?
Mix with water, juice, yoghurt, or your protein shake. It’s unflavoured and dissolves best when stirred into a warm or well-shaken liquid.
Do I need more water on creatine?
Aim for adequate hydration daily (a good baseline is pale-straw coloured urine). Hydration helps performance and recovery in general.
Menopause-specific questions
Is creatine helpful during perimenopause and menopause?
Yes — it can counter age-related muscle loss, support training quality, and has evidence for brain energy/mood support during hormonal transitions. Pair with resistance training for the best results.
I’m over 50 — is creatine still worth it?
Absolutely. Research shows benefits for post-menopausal women, particularly when combined with strength training.
I’m vegetarian/vegan — should I consider creatine?

Do I need to be lifting weights?
You’ll get the biggest payoff when creatine is paired with resistance training 2–3×/week. Even bodyweight/resistance-band work counts.

Creatine contains no calories or carbs in practical serving sizes and fits most dietary approaches. (If you have specific clinical/dietary needs, check with your clinician.)
Orders, shipping, returns & support
How much is shipping and how long does delivery take?
UK standard delivery is free, processed in 1–2 business days, and typically delivered in 3–5 business days after dispatch. You’ll receive tracking details by email.
What’s your refund policy?
Unopened, sealed products can be returned within 30 days of delivery (customer covers return shipping unless the item is damaged/incorrect). Please contact us before sending anything back so we can authorise the return.
Do you ship outside the UK?
At present, our policies reference UK delivery. If you’re outside the UK, please contact support for options.
